How do I know how much a champagne cap is worth?
Search for the cap on CapsCote (by producer, series, variety or keywords inscribed on the cap): its listing shows an indicative rating, free of charge and with no registration required. This rating takes into account rarity, condition and demand. To learn more, read our guide How to know the value of a cap.
How do I identify a champagne cap?
Look at the center (producer name, logo, drawing) and the rim (mentions, cuvee, address), then run a search on CapsCote with the legible words. A few words are often enough. Our guide How to identify a cap covers the method in detail.
Does the Capscote rating match the sale price?
No. The rating is an indicative estimate meant to place a cap, not a guaranteed sale price. The actual price of a transaction depends on the agreement between a buyer and a seller, the exact condition of the cap and current demand.
Can I manage my collection on Capscote?
Yes, for free. Create an account to check off the caps you own, track your collection's estimated value, list your duplicates for trading and your wanted items, and export everything as XLSX or PDF. You also get a public profile that you can share.
What is champagne cap collecting (placomusophilie)?
Champagne cap collecting (placomusophilie) is the collecting of champagne caps, also known as muselet plates: the small decorative metal plates placed on the cork. A person who collects them is a placomusophile. To learn more, read our beginner's guide.
How do I report a missing cap?
If a cap doesn't appear in the database, write to us via the Contact page, specifying the producer, series and visible mentions, with a photo if possible. We will add it to the database.

How do I add a photo?
Log in to your account, then open the listing of the cap concerned: if it doesn't have a photo yet, a form lets you submit one directly. Send a clear, well-framed image taken flat (preferably square, at least 300 pixels per side); a capscote.com watermark is added automatically and the photo is attached to the listing after review.
